Try Rock Climbing!$60.00Experience the thrill of rock climbing in a fun and safe environment with Shawnee Adventure Guides. Our friendly and professional guides are highly experience climbers, guaranteeing an unforgettable day in Southern Illinois. “Try Rock Climbing” is designed for all ages and most fitness levels. No prior climbing experience is needed and all equipment will be provided. The class offers a taste of climbing at a recreational level. We will select climbs of appropriate difficulty for each participant in your group but due to the nature of rock climbing, we request a moderate level of fitness from all participants. Shawnee Adventure Guides is positive you will have a truly remarkable experience, create lasting memories and physically connect with nature at a higher level. Classes will be held a Giant City State Park or Ferne Clyffe State Park, depending on weather conditions and dates chosen.

Rock Climbing Basics$85.00Shawnee Adventure Guides is pleased to offer an introductory class to the art of rock climbing. “Rock Climbing Basics” will take you a step further than our “Try Rock Climbing” class, focusing on the fundamental skills and gear for rock climbing and rappelling. It is also a great refresher course for those who have some prior level of climbing experience or those wishing to learn about climbing their first time out. During your class our guides will teach proper climbing techniques and movement, gear selection and basic knot tying. Our guides will cater to the individual needs of each participant on the trip, focusing on the appropriate level of instruction and climbs. As with our try Rock Climbing” class Shawnee Adventure Guides request a moderate level of fitness for this class. Shawnee Adventure Guides employs the best rock climbing instructors in the region, guaranteeing a fun, informative and successful day of climbing. Classes will be held at Giant City State Park or Ferne Clyffe State Park, depending on weather conditions and dates chosen.

Intermediate Climbing$95.00“Intermediate Climbing” takes rock climbing instruction a step further than our “Rock Climbing Basics” class. Participants will learn a vast amount of climbing techniques and skills providing many of the necessary skills to successfully and safely climb on your own. This in depth course will cover proper gear selection, route selection, knot tying, anchor building, belaying, and advanced climbing movement. Appropriate levels of instruction and difficulty of climbs will vary among participants. Due to the nature of rock climbing, Shawnee Adventure guides request a moderate level of fitness and the ability to learn multiple task, during a long (and fun!) day of climbing instruction. Your guides will have a combined experience level of at least 15 years of safely and successfully climbing throughout Southern Illinois and the entire United States. All of Shawnee Adventure Guides abide by A.M.G.A. standards of climbing, guaranteeing proper instruction and levels of safety. Classes will be held at Giant City State Park or Ferne Clyffe State Park depending on weather conditions or specific needs of participants.

Advanced Climbing$95.00Shawnee Adventure Guides “Advanced Climbing” course offers the highest level of climbing instruction in the Midwest. The course is completely flexible, focusing precisely on the needs of each participant. Rock climbing is a very diverse activity, featuring numerous disciplines, as is this course. The list of activities that can be covered are, but not limited to: Lead climbing (both sport and traditional), multi-pitch climbing, anchor building, knot tying, basic rescue skills, bouldering, advanced movement, training for climbing, injury prevention, route finding and new route development. This course features a maximum 2 participants to each guide, ensuring the highest levels of personal attention. If you are serious about climbing, get serious about this course! Classes will be held throughout Southern Illinois.
