How do I book a specific time and date?

When you are checking out please specify the date and time that you would like to begin your trip in the “add instructions to merchant box”. We will send you a confirmation letter with the date, time, directions etc.

All half day hikes begin at either 8:00 AM or 1:00 PM
All full Day hikes and backpacks begin at 8:00 AM

How far in advance should I book a trip?

Shawnee Adventure Guides reserves trips on a first come first serve basis so to ensure a time slot make your reservation as early as possible. For backpacking trips we require a minimum of 1 weeks notice prior to your trip.

Can I book a trip for 1?

We are happy to accommodate everyone. If you would like to book a trip for one, please contact SAG through our
custom trip page and we will send you a personal quote.

How do I know if the date I want is full?

SAG can accommodate multiple trips a day and therefore rarely will a day be full. If you schedule a trip at a time that we cannot accommodate you, we will notify you within 2 hours.

What exactly does “Season” mean?

For your convenience we have added our Recommended seasons for particular trips. All trips are available year-round unless otherwise specified.

What do I need to bring?

  • Shawnee Adventure Guides will supply you with all the essentials needed to enjoy your trip safely and comfortably but here are a few ideas to help you better prepare.

  • Hiking boots or comfortable tennis shoes. For your own comfort please make sure your shoes are well broken in prior to your trip.

  • Dress for the weather! In the winter please bring a winter jacket. Try to layer as hiking tends to warm you up even on the coldest of days. Bring gloves, hat and warm socks.

  • If your trip is in the warmer months, it is recommended to still wear jeans or slacks. Even though we will provide you with ample bug spray, it is recommended to wear light clothing to easily see unwanted bugs! A bathing suit is recommended in case you are feeling extra adventurous around the clear blue springs of cool water.

  • Bring an extra change of dry clothes especially socks.

  • You might like a hat to keep the sun off your face.

  • Sunscreen

Do I need to be in excellent physical condition?
No. We require no prior experience or certain level of physical fitness. However, please look at the difficulty rating of your desired trip and make sure that is for you. If you are unsure or have questions feel free to contact SAG with questions. Before your trip you will be required to sign a waiver that states that you can physically complete the desired trip.
What is “Leave No Trace”?
These are guidelines that SAG abides by for low impact use of the back country to preserve the wilderness. The seven main ethics are:

1. Plan ahead and prepare.
2. Travel and camp on durable surfaces.
3. Dispose of waste properly.
4. Leave what you find.
5. Minimize campfire impact.
6. Respect wildlife.
7. Be considerate of other visitors.
